Gorkhi Terelj National Park

The Gorkhi Terelj National park is one of the greatest and closest National Parks to visit from a capital city, which only takes approximately 40 minutes by vehicle. It is a part of Khentii Mountain range which lies northeast of the center of Mongolia. Inside the park, there are various types of protected animals, such as, Birds, Bears, and Moose. See level 1500 meter, it is cool and the alpine scenery is magnificent. There are countless activities, such as, hiking, rock climbing, swimming, horseback riding, two humps camels as well as yaks. Officially it was classified as a National Park in 1994; however, it is almost inhabitant place by humans, attended by few herdsmen. There are numerous summer and winter tourist camps available inside the Park that differs from its seasonal time. The Most attracted place to visitors is the Turtle Rock or called Melkhii had because of its appearance and Temple. Also, the park’s most exciting features are its flora, cliff and grazing land.

Manzshir, the Monastery of Manjusri

Manzushir Monastery is located 45km or 28 miles from Ulaanbaatar, in the luxuriant valley of the Bogd Khan Mountain in Tuv aimag province. It was established in 1733 with over 20 temples in which consist of 300 monks. It was almost wiped out by Russian influence in 1932, the only remaining temple has been restored and a museum at the site tells the story of the monastery as well as musical instrument and paintings.   

Hustai Nuruu National Park

The 90,000 hectare Hustain Huruu National Park, set 60 miles southwest of Ulaanbaatar, is home to the World's only horse which are the last remaining species of truly wild horse. They are called ancient ancestor of the horse as well. Appearance of the Takhi, they look small approximately 250cm long, 146cm tall and weighs on average 300kg, but they do not look like much domestic horse! The tale is shorter than domestic horse, small eyes and neck is about the same length as the head. The famous explorer Nikolai Przewalski of Russia who found this horse and wrote more detailed descriptions for the Takhi in 1881, so that his name started to be used by Europeans to delegated the species. They were disappeared 30 years ago and became endangered species in Mongolia; however, with the help international non – profit organizations, this horse to become inhabit again in Mongolia and they are growing in the protected area. Besides Thakhi horses, there are lot of species of mammals, Gazelles, Argal Wild Mountain sheep, and Marmots live in the protected area.

For instance, birds arrive on Ikh Gun and Ayage lakes, Kherlen River which is the longest river of Mongolia and Tsengiin Burd swam land as well.

Gobi Desert

The Gobi Desert is in the heart of Mongolia and is the destination of many who really want to experience Mongolia. It is 600 km from the capital city of Mongolia. It is the habitat of the rarest animals and a unique natural landscape. Maybe it’s the vast, empty space, the incredible colors, or the way the expanses make a traveler focus their attention on nothing but the land before them. The Gobi, which is subdivided into thirty-three regions such as Galba, Borzon, Zag and Suuj, Sharga, Nomin, and Beyond Altai, covers 30 percent of the country and stretching from the east to the west through the southern part of Mongolia. The Gobi is an endless vast steppe with mirage objects, fine golden sand dunes and many other unusual phenomena.
You will hear the cry of baby camels that are outside the scattered ger-yurts only in the Gobi. Many of the paleontological findings have been found in the Gobi. It houses numerous endangered animals, such as the wild ass, wild camel, and Gobi bear that are recorded in the World Red Book.
There are also places with little woods of sexual and elm and streams which are called oases. At oasis’s or animal heavens, all the animals of the surrounding area gather. Its numeral rare animal species include Argali Wild Mountain sheep, Ibex, Snow Leopard, Lynx, Gazelles, wild Bactrian Camels and Gobi bear, just to name a few.

Karakorum, Ancient Mongolian Capital

Ancient Capital city of Mongolia, which was established in 1220, was the largest capital city of Genghis Khan Empire (13th century) that the world had ever known. About hundred years ago, Russian scientist Yadrinitsov.N conducted the first research of this city. He and his team were made geophysical and archeological research and as a result of making research in Kharkhorum, they found various kinds of ancient archeology evidence.  Ogodei Khan completed Kharkhorum in 1235 according to the will of Genghis Khan, and established the capital city of Mongol Empire. Although it was firstly wiped out in 1380 as well as in several different times by Ming Dynasty army, Karakorum city was existed about 140 years and stand the capital of the Mongol Empire for 32 years. The source of Karakorum city is protected by the state protection since 1961. In 1586, on the spot where Kharakhorum existed the first Mongolian Buddist Monastery Erdene Zuu was built at the initiative of the most influential Khalkha Lord Abtai Khan. Nowadays, it is one of the famous destinations for tourists. Erdene Zuu Monastery is located 373 km away from Ulaanbaatar, the capital city of Mongolia.

Khuvsgul lake

Khuvsgul lake, one of the most clean and depth lake in the Central Asia, is located in the northwest of Mongolia near the border to Russia, at the foot of the eastern Sayan Mountains. It is 1,645 m above sea level, 136 km long and 262 m deep. It holds almost 70% of Mongolia's fresh water and 0.4% of all the fresh water in the world.[1] The town of Hatgal is at the southern end of the lake.It is surrounded by the forest Mountains.There is 10 kind of fish lives and many tourist camps available as well.
The surface of the lake freezes over completely in winter. The ice cover gets strong enough to carry heavy trucks, so that transport routes were installed on its surface as shortcuts to the normal roads. However, this practice is now forbidden, to prevent pollution of the lake from both oil leaks and trucks breaking through the ice. It is estimated that 30-40 cars have sunk into the lake over the years
Fishing and sport fishing are becoming popular in the lake area. Taiga Fauna and Flora,Tsatan, practicing raindeer breeding are the main attractions for tourist Different ethnic groups live in the area: Khalh, Darhadt, Butyat. Tsaatans are reindeer herders. Lake Khuvsgul is on the important migration route for birds from Siberia, thus facilitating marvelous opportunities for bird watching.

Khentii

Khentii aimag is the inhabitants of the birth place of the Second Millennium Man Genghis Khan, the founder of the Great Mongol Empire and the aimag named after the Khentii Mountains which directs the northwestern part of the province. Mountains are covered by forests and surrounded by well –wet lands. It has about more than 70 and one of the biggest rivers is Kherlen and Onon. It is a Potential to make a real historical trip because of Genghis khan’s birth place. Also adventure travel, hiking, horseback riding, trekking and climbing, are possible. Many archeologist and anthropologist are working in this area in order to find out where the Genghis Khan’s brave is. This province is described in the Secret History of Mongols.
